Can you imagine? Suing the state because it is limiting donations by person/company in order to try and close up the “I-give-you-money-you-give-me-job” way of doing business here in NJ.

I especially like this quote:

“Furthermore, Oury says, it will only make it harder for the “little guy” to launch a career in politics — with the help of a well-oiled county organization, of course. Only millionaires, such as Governor Corzine or Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Forrester, will be able to afford the costly advertising and consultants.

Oury, a municipal lawyer himself and a generous dispenser of campaign donations in his own right, says voters can simply boot council members out of office if they are unhappy with their choice of lawyer or other professionals.

“The politician should get up and say, ‘If you don’t like it, don’t vote for me,’ ” he said. “Let the voters decide the issue, because, at the end of the day, this is what this is all about. … That’s the litmus test.”

Yes, that is right “Joe Average” can no longer run a fair race when the BCDO can spend tens of thousands of dollars to print lies of literature and to mail them.  So Mr. Oury wants to sue to make sure that grass roots campaigns, both party and independents can NEVER get a foothold in NJ. Gotta keep those checks coming into the BCDO without interference. Mr. Oury is also very concerned about his own cash flow as he is the “king” of Municipal jobs.

Yeah,  the “average guy” does care about “pay-to-play” as they have become more educated about it and how it affects their pocket book day-to-day. And as they learn more and more they become outraged.  Look at HH! A Borough attorney who does next to nothing for the Council except make sure that his other BCDO attorney friends and contributors  get jobs here in town. A BCDO  big time  engineer that was put on the job only to find out how little they would be able to make on the current projects and gave the work back to the former Borough Engineer who is doing it on budget and on time.

And he is right.  The voting booth is the litmus test. The BCDO is scared of it now due to the education that the voters are now receiving.  The voters are learning all about the “hidden” donations that don’t show up on official paperwork until after elections or the PACS that receive that money in bulk and then distribute it accordingly. They are learning about the manipulation of “no-bid” work by the Dems to bring in their contributors.

Yes, we are all learning and using this new education to make sure that our town is run for the citizens that live here and not the Bergen County Democrats and their local lapdogs that need to listen to their chairman and what HE wants for HH.

So go ahead, Oury. Sue the state. Let’s let the citizens of Bergen County and HH see how their lives have been a bank account for the the BCDO these last few years. Hey, education is a good thing, right?

I forgot about…

…that  during last nights Work Session of the Mayor and Council Altobelli and the Dems want to propose to put in an Ordinance that would no longer allow police and fire, parents and children to work together in Hasbrouck Heights. They called it an “Anti Nepotism” Ordinance. This would would also apply to all departments in HH.  Lots of discussion on how the most towns pick police officer candidates.  Let’s see if they even try to put this Ordinance forward.

Sound familiar?

August 12, 2007 · 5 Comments

The letter below was published in todays’s (8/12) Bergen Record. Caught my eye.  It seems that when it comes to Slick Willy and his PACs, his “mentor” Joe Ferriero and the Bergen County Democratic Organization deception is the name of the game. It seems that NOT filing the paperwork to the ELEC, hiding their donations is their modus operandi across the County.

It also seems that Slick Willy Ortiz’s partner, Greg Paster was installed as Northvale’s Borough Attorney as part of their new “regime”. Sound familar?

What is the saying?  “Fool me once…”

“Wheeling is the act of donating money to a source other than candidates or municipal organizations. Those sources then distribute the money to local candidates. This process completely bypasses current limits on campaign funding and clouds the issue of where money is originating.

The Democrats’ Campaign for a Better Northvale received nearly $40,000 from such sources in 2006. So much money was coming in, with the intent to hide it until after the election, that the slate’s treasurer resigned just days before the election (“Northvale Democratic Club treasurer resigns,” Page L-3, Nov. 3, 2006). http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjczN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2MDcmZmdiZWw3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTYwMTMyNTQmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXky

There were two major sources of donations to the Campaign for a Better Northvale: the Election Fund of District 39 and Northern Valley First. These funds were supported by hefty donations from contractors and professionals.

At Northvale’s reorganization in January, when Democrats assumed control of the borough’s government, every professional was replaced by people who had made large contributions to these funds and to the Bergen County Democratic Organization. One company was hired to be the borough’s grant-writing firm. The contractor is owned by an engineering firm that made large contributions to the aforementioned groups.

Comprehensive pay-to-play reform must follow the money trails so the public is acutely aware of where the funds are coming from and how they affect both individuals and municipalities. The public must hold all officials — Democrat, Republican or independent — accountable for the donations they accept to run a campaign.

Scott L. Furletti

Northvale, Aug. 2

The writer, a Republican, is a Northvale borough councilman.”

For more enlightening reading here is an article I kept from earlier this year.

Is this how we want HH run? That’s how the Dem Council wants it.  They have to create jobs as per the BCDO to pay back those donations that paid for the slick postcards full of lies that got them on the dais.

We can stop it on November 6th and get our town back. Let’s show the BCDO that they can’t control HH. Let’s get the last laugh.

So “transparent” it’s invisible…

August 6, 2007 · 5 Comments

It’s been a busy summer with the kids. Swim team, softball, packing and unpacking for various camps. Time just flies by it seems. I have been reading and posting of the NJ forum but just haven’t had the time to sit and write on this blog. I have noticed that this blog has been getting a few hits every day so there is interest in what had been written in the past year.

So I admit it. Despite being so busy I go on the ELEC (Election Law Enforcement Commision) website every few days to see whom is filing and what they are filing.

It was from this checking last year that I was able to see many donations made from PACS and corporations (Maser, as an example) to the coffers of the Democrats in our town including the $5,ooo donation that Slick Willy Ortiz’s  PAC, had given the Democrats last year http://hhangel.wordpress.com/2007/01/04/the-buying-of-hasbrouck-heights/ and the money that Introna has been accepting for years now from various attorneys and engineering firms.

But as I am looking at the current Saccomano, Introna, Shihanian filings it is what I am NOT seeing that disturbs me.  I am not seeing is the required “20 day post” paperwork from the Primary. It is this paperwork that shows where the money is and where it is coming from. It was due June 25th

What are they hiding?  Why haven’t they filed this required paperwork?  Did Willy tell them not to?  Is it more strategic to NOT file it in order to deceive the voters as to who is controlling and financing these candidates?

Tell us. Please.
