Arrogance

November 25, 2007 · 1 Comment

It just makes one want to scream when it comes to the entitlement that some local attorneys feel they have when it comes to our hard-earned tax dollars.  And because of the “hold” that Joe Ferriero has on many local city governments, questionable invoices produced by a “Joe” attorney would never be questioned by any Democratic Council.  That is why be puts “his” people in office and then makes sure that “his” people are then appointed to various positions, especially his attorney cash cows. They started to do that in HH but as the citizens received a crash course in Bergen County Democratic politics they saw everything that they had moved away from in “other” counties try to follow them here.  And so they stopped it. But it doesn’t mean that we are in the clear.  In fact, we will always be a target, especially now as we have risen up to protect our town and our taxdollars.

Misdirected…

November 19, 2007 · 1 Comment

I live on a street off Burton.  Every year, with the exception of this one, the streets get “creamed” literally. Showers of toilet paper, eggs, shaving cream on Burton and the side streets. This year, no. And you know why? The First Reformed Church on the corner of Burton and Washington had a special “detail”.  They had several men volunteers that lined the property and just kept an eye on their church that evening.  I drove by a couple of times that night and there they were chatting, drinking coffee, watching.

Because of their presence and watchfulness the church wasn’t touched and Burton and the connecting streets had minimal “mischief”  this year. It appears, though, that the kids moved to the Blvd when they saw they were being “watched”.  I was on the Blvd that evening at the Republican headquarters and I watched the the gaggles of kids roving up and down.  The police were out and questioned kids, took eggs away, etc. but it seems that what is more effective is being “watched”.

How about instead on “Mischief” night, on the Blvd, the owners of the retail, restaurant and offices Turn the Lights on and stay open until 10:00 p.m. Hang around. Have “sales” tied into the evening. The more people out, the less likely for damage.   The First Reformed “posse” showed that.  This is a more logical answer than having a curfew that is extreme and possibly push kids to do their mischief on Halloween instead.

Eric Clapton vs. PSE&G

November 12, 2007 · 1 Comment

I heard an ad on the radio about Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood performing together at MSG at the end of February.  The ad went on to say the advance tickets would go on-sale Monday (today) for American Express card holders.

I love Eric Clapton and I enjoy Steve Winwood. As “Blind Faith” they were brilliant.

So at 10 this a.m. I got online. They are doing 3 dates the last week in February. A nice mid-winter date for me and my husband, I thought.

So I go through the Ticketmaster routine and the tickets are presented to me.  Two mediocre seats in the second mezzaine way opposite of the the stage were $391.00. I had to blink twice when I saw that. I tried again and was presented 2 more tickets a little better in location (but not much) for $500.00+  “fees”. Aaargh!

I kept staring at the computer screen and started thinking about the cost of the first set of tickets and what that money could buy (will not do nosebleed seats, not worth it).  Let’s see, the tickets =:

1) A December PSE&G bill

2) A Car payment

3) The quarterly car insurance payment

4) Three cell phone payments

4) Three cable bill payments

Yeah, I can hear people saying, “put it on a credit card”, but my husband and I vowed to use the cards sparingly, especially with Christmas around the corner and the writer’s strike potentially hurting his paycheck very soon.

So I sighed and closed the site. Makes me mad.  I remember as a teenager and young adult going to concerts all the time and it not breaking  the bank.  When did it get so expensive? Do they think the baby boomers are so flush with cash that the sky is the limit when it comes to ticket prices?

So I guess I am stuck with clips from YouTube. At least there won’t be a line at the bathroom.

“Everyone will get their wiggly eyes.”

November 9, 2007 · Leave a Comment

 Pacon Wiggly Eyes Stack-Pack, 560/PK, BK - Model PAC1842890 at Sears.com

That is the phrase of the day, I decided.

Where I heard it:

I went to a crafts store to pick up some picture frames.  In order to check out there is one line and a couple of registers.  Unless you know this system in the store it is a little confusing. As I was standing there an older couple went right to the register rather than stand in the waiting line. They had to have been 80+. She was using a walker and her husband was holding her purse and pushing their cart. I was the next in line. No big deal. They didn’t know. When they were finished,  I went to the register. The clerk turns to me and says, “Thank you.” I was confused. “For what?”, I ask. She says for letting the couple go ahead of you.  She then went on to say that she has seen crazy, screaming people ready to take it to the mat when other people have made the same error. She then said that she has tried to calm the people in the line by saying, “Please be calm.  Everyone will get their wiggly eyes“.  For those that don’t do kid’s crafts, those are the little plastic eyes that you glue to projects.

I know here in NJ we are known for our brusque, no nonsense way of living life. Alot of it has to do with the amount of people that are squeezed in our small state.  But our lack of patience with our fellow man spills into every aspect of our lives.  Blood pressure meds are at an all time high. Our children don’t have the ability to sit quietly and read a book or slowly hike through the woods and enjoy the quiet.

How much more pleasant our world would be if we started with the little things first and just calmed down.  How about letting a car into a traffic line? Or stop tapping your feet when a new sales clerk at Shop Rite is learning the system and is a little slower than the other clerks. How about not hitting the car horn a nanosecond after the light turns green?

Life is too short to revolve your life around those “wiggly eyes”.

Maryetta, as always, wrong…

November 4, 2007 · 1 Comment

Maryetta seems to have a problem with doing her own research and depending solely on what her Bergen County Dems tell her.

First lets’ start off with Maryetta’s letter that the party hand delivered to selected homes on her behalf (I got my copy from the street where someone threw it):

the-lies.pdf

NOW let’s examine the TRUTH that she likes to ignore consistently.

Where Willy Ortiz lives…

Where Willy lives…

Where the Northern Valley’s treasurer “office” is … boy, that address is familiar!

Northern Valley

Wanna know more about Willy’s Treasurer and his deception?

Truly, truly pathetic, Maryetta.

So where is that money coming from?

November 3, 2007 · 1 Comment

Open this file and then click on the yellow “notes” to see the breakdown of how the Dems file their NJ ELEC forms and where the source of their money is. It is not from Hasbrouck Heights! More favors and more taxpayer money promised to various people and companies by the Dems.

They are still missing reports that were due on October 26th. But this is how the Dems operate. Deceive those gulliable voters.   Well, what is the saying…”Fool me once…”

Guess what, there is no more fooling the voters here in HH.

Vote Column 2 so we can get our town back to the way it should be…for the citizens!!

Oh where, oh where is the money coming from

Shiny paper and Desperate Dems

November 2, 2007 · 1 Comment

Thousands of $$ in Shiny Paper from a group of people that didn’t show at Candidates Night as they were too “busy” to talk to the voters…

So  it seems that the Dems think that the Voters are stupid enough to believe that the words “Applied For” is money IN OUR POCKET.    One can apply for hundreds of grants, but it means nothing  to the taxpayers until it shows up in our tax bill.  See how well their Dem influence in Trenton was for our budget this year…we got the EXACT SAME AMOUNT AS LAST YEAR!!! THEY DID NOTHING FOR US! AND WE HAVE A DEM STATE GOVERNMENT!  Our Republican Council has been applying for various grants for years and years and as they have received them have applied them to the budget/project where they apply.  The Dems have nothing to show for the past 10 months and desperately trying to create something out of nothing.

On their piece it says: …”Democratic Council was presented with a Municipal Budget which had a tax increase of 7.5 points…”

The reality is…

http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXkyJmZnYmVsN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk3MTIxNDUz

But again, as far as the Dems are concerned the HH voters are easily duped.

I wrote the statement below back in September on the NJ Forum when the final tax bill came out.  It seems that the Dems have the  ”Deceptive Math Issues” syndrome. This time, though, they want to deceive the voters with charts in political mailings that are senseless and statements that are lies.

I was looking at the cover sheet that came with the final tax bill and did the math comparing 2006 to 2007 breakdown of the tax rate. It seems that the “Local Purpose Tax” from 2006 to 2007 is up 6.8%.

“Local School Tax” is up 6.1%

“County Tax” is up 4.2%

Total for all three is up 6.2%

Maybe Lenny, the Finance Chair can explain to me where is this 4% that they are talking about?

I don’t know about you, but my taxes went up ANOTHER $600 this year!!!!! Is that what the Dems call Stabilization???? This is beyond scary if that is what they are trying to push down the taxpayers throat as their reality.  Their theory is print it on shiny paper and the people will believe it.  How stupid do they think we are?

The money to do these mailings? Don’t know where it is coming from as the Saccomano group has neglected to file those pesky  STATE REQUIRED ELEC reports that shows their donations and expenditures that were required at the end of October. And you know why?  They don’t want the taxpayers to see where their money is coming from.  In years past it has ALL come from Corporate contributors looking for a payback. The County Dem  machine does not want to lose HH. It would be a slap in the face to them so they are willing to spend thousands and thousands of $$$$$ in mailings and ads to keep them in power in our town.

They did file one set of forms yesterday (48 hour forms) that showed Shoor Depalma for ($1,000, 500+500) a firm convicted of bribery to municipal officers,  an architect ($570) and Title company ($855) both based out of Hackensack; Lerch, Vinci and Higgins – our auditor ($400) and Leonard Calvo ($570) former Union City BOE president where Lenny works. There is also a postage expenditure for $1,700 and $850.  They are way short of their expenses.  Lots of pieces missing. But that is how they operate.  Deception.

They need to spend our tax dollars to re-pay their contributors. That is what they need Hasbrouck Heights for!

We learned alot this past year on how an influenced Dem Council can tear a town down spiritually and financially. Let’s not let this happen ever again.

Vote Republican…Column 2.
