Our poor mailman. Great guy. Had him for years. I feel bad for him this time of year. Between Christmas catalogs and junk political mail he is overwhelmed, I am sure.
Do you know the definition of “junk mail” (from The American Heritage Dictionary)?
junk mail
NOUN:
Third-class mail, such as advertisements, mailed indiscriminately in large quantities.
That pretty much sums up the mailings I received the last week or so from the Dems running. Indiscriminate garbage being sent to me without my permission. On its way to filling up landfills.
Not in a single piece did I see anything about their community accomplishments. And I am not talking about HH, people. How about loading shelves in a Food Bank? Assisting Seniors at a Center with their day-to-day errands. Fund raising for a homeless shelter? Working with an environmental group to help clean up the Hackensack River? God, there are so many NON-POLITICAL opportunities! But it seems that there is nothing that the Dems deemed worthy of their time apparently. They are above THAT. It’s like suddenly in their mid lives they just jumped up and said, “Gee I know nothing about how to serve a community, nor do I have any ideas as to solve my perceived problems of the community, but I think I am qualified to be a Councilperson by just being ME. Well, at least the local Dem party thinks I am qualified.” So, so, so scary.
I didn’t see anything in their Junk Mail about how they plan to get Property Taxes down and adjust Budgets dictated by the State. Lots of talk. No plans. Are they waiting for their Dem bosses to tell them what to say? It seems so. No thoughts of their own. But then, puppets don’t have their own thoughts. Will they be making pilgrimages to Trenton to personally protest the Abbott money that keeps pouring into those Districts (paychecks of Mr. Dinanno and Mr. Introna) while leaving ours and increasing our taxes? As that state money continues to make its way into those school developers and politicians wallets you think they will fight for us to get our slice of that pie to decrease our prices? Yeah, right. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you, do you?
I didn’t see anything that in the “STOP” junk mail that showed 1) the land/building assessments of the houses featured 2) the addresses of those homes so residents would know who lives there and 3) whether any of those homes had extensive renovations in the last three years like kitchens, extensions, etc. Taxes can go up significantly from such work right away as one who knows. People like to keep those renovations “quiet” while they are doing it so their taxes don’t go up after they are done. So they don’t get permits so the town doesn’t know. The recent re-valuations changed that for many people as their new renovations were added in and their taxes did go up for that work plus the increased real estate values. Boo-hoo. Serves them right. Why should we all have to pay extra taxes for THEIR home improvements.
The Dems bosses produced a piece that was very, very deceitful. Didn’t prove a single thing except to show that their local candidates don’t have a thought nor an issue resolution of their own. That instills confidence in voters, doesn’t it?
Well we know where Junk Mail goes, don’t we? Poor Sanitation people.
