The Republicans Thank You, Ferriero, for Destroying your own Party!!!

The bottom line? You don’t take a “leave” if you are innocent. When is the “perp” walk? I want to make sure that my TIVO is on!

Democrats – The New Party of Exclusion! Go McCain/Palin!

I got an email (along with about a couple of dozen other people on the same list) from a friend of mine.  It was a cut and paste that has been floating around the Net from a so-called Alaskan that went to college at Bryn Mawr trashing Sarah Palin and the fact that she is not Hillary.  I won’t grace my blog site with the letter but if you want to Google it use these key words: Bryn Mawr Sarah Palin.

What I find interesting though is how the Democrats are using the Internet to trash a choice that they are sooo jealous of.  They had one of their many copywriters come up with a “letter” that will backfire on them. As they deserve it to. Their Party of inclusion is letting the country become aware they are one that “rednecks” are not allowed to be a part of.

So let’s see the definition of “redneck” from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

1sometimes disparaging : a white member of the Southern rural laboring class

Hmm…so the Democrats apparently have no interest in those voters. They just love forwarding this “letter” around their blogs and encouraging people to email it to others. I guess Barack and his running mate are so confident in their campaign they are willing to give up those voters.  That’s fine. Their party doesn’t need them, it appears. “Rednecks” come in both the Republican and Democratic versions. We’ll take them all. And Oprah? You think your rejection of Sarah Palin will hurt their campaign? The opposite will happen.  It will backfire on you, I guarantee it.  But then maybe you want them to win. Is that your strategy?

I wrote a reponse to all of those people on the list. An edited version is posted here.

(Susan is a woman on the list that also responded)

A response to Susan:
I am a small town Republican Councilwoman in NNJ that is voting for McCain and Palin. I am anti-war. I have a Nephew going to Iraq next month. I spent my formative high school and college years in Western PA where venison is part of the diet, especially during Fall hunting season. Did I hunt it? No. But my cousins and uncles did and we were very grateful as a family financially struggling for free meat.
I look at Sarah and I see a typical American family. I see a woman who represents all of us in many ways.  We don’t have to agree with all of her beliefs but we certainly can respect the choices she has made for herself and her family. I know I have. She is smart, down-to-earth, savvy and knows how to run a state government. In regard to the incident with her older daughter, I look at it as “there but the grace of God go I”. You can raise great teenagers but all it takes is one late night and an ‘oops’.  It did open a conversation with my teenager and allowed me to impress upon him again our family beliefs but then again he is 16 and “knows everything”.
Oh and BTW? If I hear one more thing about how Hillary was “cheated” out of the nomination, I will scream! Her qualifications for Senator? She was the WIFE of a President who almost got himself impeached due to his inability to keep it in his pants? Yeah, that is a solid credential for Senator. Her so-called “health program”? Tanked. But she had the money and support of her HUSBAND’S cronies and they got her in.  Then she runs a presidential campaign and allows it to get $20 million dollars in DEBT!!! And that campaign?  She allowed her husband to sabotage it. Maybe if he had kept his mouth shut…And then she cried HELP and had to ask her OPPONENT and the American public to bail her out from her DEBT?? She wanted to run the country but couldn’t manage her own campaign finances??? Unreal!!!

And to the Democratic campaign copywriter/”Bryn Mawr College” writer, can we say lolol. How about “buyers remorse”?

The bottom line is, as Susan stated:Vote for whom ever you want but vote!

Do you have a “Mitch”?

Every year it is the same mantra trying to get people out to vote for school elections.  But it seems that the disinterest in the whole process extends across almost every community and it makes one wonder “why”?

Do we have a generation of people that don’t want to think for themselves? That don’t care about having a voice when it comes to their government and how it spends THEIR money? Have they become so accustomed to having someone (parents, bosses) think and decide for them they are clueless as to the whole process as to how, where and why their taxdollars are spent and the people that want to do it for them?

It doesn’t take alot of time to become better informed.  Subscribe to local and county newspapers and read the “local” section only if you are short on time. Can’t get to the meetings? Get a copy of the minutes, either on-line or from the BOE office to get more detail than what is in the newspapers. Go to meetings periodically to see who is who. Google articles to get a historical perspective. Talk to other parents at local events.

Find a “Mitch” and vote.

Ferriero certainly has a set of big ones, doesn’t he?

…but then we all know that obnoxious bravado and pseudo machismo is actually a way to middle aged men to compensate for…

Please do us all a favor, and our wallets, and just double up on your ED drugs. I am sure some nice pharmaceutical donor will have no problem with handing you a case or two.

Diverting from the issues…

So the Republicans were “challenged” by Carol Skiba about the use of the Council Chambers for a public information sessions.  She said “ethics”. Incorrect. I think we need to review the definition of “ethics”.

 ethics

The branch of philosophy that deals with morality. Ethics is concerned with distinguishing between good and evil in the world, between right and wrong human actions, and between virtuous and non-virtuous characteristics of people.

Using a public room for a public meeting, is NOT an ethics issue. It has nothing to do with “Right vs. Wrong”.  It has nothing to do with “good vs. evil” The bottom line? It has to do with “sour grapes” and not thinking ahead and  inquiring about reserving a space for their campaign.

Up to now, reserving a public space at the Municipal Complex for private and public meetings has been a nice priviledge for all citizens of Hasbrouck Heights. I remember when the building was just being finished getting an “inside tour” and how proud the tour guide was in discussing how this building can now be used by the community for all of the meetings that were scattered across the town in cramped spaces.

The use of the word “ethics”  has become a hot button issue in NJ Politics and she thought the use of this word would “incite” the people of Hasbrouck Heights. What this has done is to put some of the hardest workers in our Municipal Government in a position that they don’t deserve to be in.

Below is a letter that was sent to me that was  submitted to The Observer for publication this week:

To: The Observer NewspaperFrom: The Hasbrouck Heights Republican Club President Pamela J. Link

As President of the Hasbrouck Heights Republican Club I submitted an application to the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights for the use of a room in which to hold three meetings. One Citizens Forum on Sunday, Nov. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. and two meetings on Nov. 5, one a Senior Citizens Forum from 2 to 4 p.m. and the other a Citizens Forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Announcements began at our Annual Picnic at Woodland Park, Sept. 8th. Speakers were to be the Republican Mayoral Candidate Rose Heck and Council Candidates Sonya Buckman and David Gonzalez. The club was originally assigned to the Senior Center. Subsequent to that The Leisure Club wanted it changed and so the Council Chamber was assigned. This meant no extra setting up of chairs or changes in the room. This was to be the site of the first announced Mayoral Debate for Oct. 24th, which never was confirmed because only Rose Heck agreed to participate.

It was then that Councilwoman Carol Skiba began in our opinion to become concerned about the sponsor, all of which she had known for months. She sent press releases to several newspapers with her version of what should be done and how it should be done. She got some press, so did everyone else.

Now after a month plus, she comes to a Council Meeting and announces she has a couple of communications that had just been received. The Mayor allowed them to be read along with six other letters already on the Council Agenda for October 9th. Surprise! She, herself, wrote both letters dated Oct. 9th; One announcing the Fire Department Open House and the other charging Mayoral Candidate Rose Heck with being unethical. Why? Because Ms. Skiba said, she was going to use the Council Chamber.

Councilwoman Skiba should be ashamed of herself. In my opinion she was not forthright in bringing the communication forward. She was completely out of line in charging Mrs. Heck since it was not Mrs. Heck who applied to use the room, but myself as President of the Republican Club of Hasbrouck Heights. And Mrs. Heck was not the only person scheduled to speak at the three forums. Council Candidates Sonya Buckman and David Gonzalez were also participants. Why did Ms. Skiba single out Rose Heck? Why would she object to public forums in a public building? Why didn’t she ask to see the application to check the name on that request?

It has since come to my attention that our valued Borough Employees are coming under attack because of these scheduled Public Forums, so I am hereby removing my request to use the Municipal Building.

We will hold our Forums on the same dates and same times in a facility that no one should have any objection to its use. It will be held at 202 Boulevard. The space we rented for our Campaign Headquarters. The Democrats can now move on to try to create more havoc somewhere else.

S/s Pamela J. Link, President

The Hasbrouck Heights Republican Club

So what did she accomplish? Nothing.  Same meetings, different location. 202 Blvd.  See you there.

This was passed on August 8, 2006.   So instead of having a situation like Depken Field, which cost the taxpayers $0, we have a parking lot that we all get to pay for. Thanks, Dems. Yep. I can see how you are all looking out for us.  I am sure we all appreciate the extra sweaters we will need to put on this winter as we try and keep our PSE&G bill down to help pay our taxes.

I forgot about…

…that  during last nights Work Session of the Mayor and Council Altobelli and the Dems want to propose to put in an Ordinance that would no longer allow police and fire, parents and children to work together in Hasbrouck Heights. They called it an “Anti Nepotism” Ordinance. This would would also apply to all departments in HH.  Lots of discussion on how the most towns pick police officer candidates.  Let’s see if they even try to put this Ordinance forward.

Sound familiar?

The letter below was published in todays’s (8/12) Bergen Record. Caught my eye.  It seems that when it comes to Slick Willy and his PACs, his “mentor” Joe Ferriero and the Bergen County Democratic Organization deception is the name of the game. It seems that NOT filing the paperwork to the ELEC, hiding their donations is their modus operandi across the County.

It also seems that Slick Willy Ortiz’s partner, Greg Paster was installed as Northvale’s Borough Attorney as part of their new “regime”. Sound familar?

What is the saying?  “Fool me once…”

“Wheeling is the act of donating money to a source other than candidates or municipal organizations. Those sources then distribute the money to local candidates. This process completely bypasses current limits on campaign funding and clouds the issue of where money is originating.

The Democrats’ Campaign for a Better Northvale received nearly $40,000 from such sources in 2006. So much money was coming in, with the intent to hide it until after the election, that the slate’s treasurer resigned just days before the election (“Northvale Democratic Club treasurer resigns,” Page L-3, Nov. 3, 2006). http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjczN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2MDcmZmdiZWw3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTYwMTMyNTQmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXky

There were two major sources of donations to the Campaign for a Better Northvale: the Election Fund of District 39 and Northern Valley First. These funds were supported by hefty donations from contractors and professionals.

At Northvale’s reorganization in January, when Democrats assumed control of the borough’s government, every professional was replaced by people who had made large contributions to these funds and to the Bergen County Democratic Organization. One company was hired to be the borough’s grant-writing firm. The contractor is owned by an engineering firm that made large contributions to the aforementioned groups.

Comprehensive pay-to-play reform must follow the money trails so the public is acutely aware of where the funds are coming from and how they affect both individuals and municipalities. The public must hold all officials — Democrat, Republican or independent — accountable for the donations they accept to run a campaign.

Scott L. Furletti

For more enlightening reading here is an article I kept from earlier this year.

Is this how we want HH run? That’s how the Dem Council wants it.  They have to create jobs as per the BCDO to pay back those donations that paid for the slick postcards full of lies that got them on the dais.

We can stop it on November 6th and get our town back. Let’s show the BCDO that they can’t control HH. Let’s get the last laugh.

Wesmont…It’s all about politics and bank accounts

Wesmont, it’s all about politics and bank accounts.

Our Democratic majority council has stayed mum as the up coming ground breaking of this poisoned project gets closer and closer? Hmm.

Look at what Sarlo and the State Dems were given in contributions and that’s what is ON the record.

The developer and its related companies and employees, in turn, got behind Sarlo. Since 2002 they’ve given Sarlo’s Senate campaign fund $8,650, and to state and Bergen County Democrats, another $26,670, according to state Election Law Enforcement Commission filings.

That is probably a drop in the bucket actually.

As we all know many donations are made “around” the laws (ask Maser) and although documented are vague i.e. through employees, relatives, etc.

How about those contracts to those companies that are working on this project? Contractors, lawyers, engineers, you name it. Lots of money was provided already…$2 million in grants and low interest loans to the developer. Hmm. Everyone has their hands out.

Now lets talk about the poison that is seeping below our feet, especially those HH residents that live next to the project. Wow, our own “Love Canal” right here. In fact Curtiss-Wright knows what they left. In the Record article they refused to comment. They did some cleanup but I am sure their attitude is now, it will be up to the State to clean it now. We sold the property. Not our problem anymore.

This is what we want? A project that will poison those people that live on it and degrade the PROPERTY VALUES of those people (US!) that live near it?

The developer’s business, Somerset Development is based out of Lakewood, NJ. They have no connection to our part of Bergen County. Nor do they care. As long as their bank books are filled. Sarlo? What a joke. He cares so little about those of us in S. Bergen County. If he did he would be up in arms about the various DEP studies that are out there about this project. But he is not. It appears that the $$ are more important than the health of the local residents.

The developer also wrote a “panic letter” to The Record after the article was written. Can anyone believe a word that he says? Please…. That link is below.

He donates to the various Democrats using Ralph or Raphael Zucker.

Everyone’s hands are out…

What is this teaching our young  people?  That is is ok to take the money as a lawmaker as long as the money received has designated you as a “consultant”?

More and more ethically challenged politicians. And we wonder why we have lost control of our own town council and their ethics? Look what they have as their examples in their own party. Truly makes me ill. How about you?
